Artificial Intelligence and Data Science

Department of Computer Engineering (Cyber Security) is the New Course introduced by JNTU-H. Cyber security is the field that focuses in protecting networks, companies, and individuals from attacks. Cyber attacks can include unauthorized access, viruses, spyware, spam, botnets, phishing scams, and more. In other words, cyber security is an essential part of the broader field that is computer science.

Main targets

When researching the differences between cyber security and computer science, you may want to compare the courses. Computer science and cyber security programs have different core curriculums, but there is some overlap depending on the school and program. Both degrees may require knowledge on cloud computing and networks, but generally, computer science programs broadly focus on computing, theory and application and cyber security programs are more focused on security. Below is a summary on each degree option.

Cybersecurity refers to a set of techniques used to protect the integrity of networks, programs, and data from attack, damage, and unauthorized access.

With this course, you’ll learn computer security from both a software and hardware perspective, with a focus on building and maintaining more secure systems.

Classwork begins with the computer science core and transitions into a major-focused sequence in your junior and senior years.
