Dr. Shaik Rusthum — Principal, BRIL
Dr. Shaik Rusthum, Principal of Brilliant Institute of Engineering and Technology (BRIL), is a highly accomplished academician with over three decades of experience in teaching, research, consultancy, and institutional leadership.
He obtained his B.E. in Civil Engineering from Osmania University (1988), M.Tech in Hydraulics from Andhra University (1994), and was awarded his Ph.D. from Osmania University (2003) for research on "Watershed Management".
A strong proponent of Outcome-Based Education (OBE), he emphasises practical learning, modular knowledge systems, and continuous curriculum improvement. His core areas of expertise include Watershed Management, Urban Development, and Transportation Engineering, with extensive application of GIS, Remote Sensing, and Satellite Data.
With exposure to leading research institutions and international academic environments, including professional engagements in Saudi Arabia, Dr. Rusthum possesses a global perspective on engineering education. He is a Fellow Member of the Institution of Engineers (India), Life Member of ISTE, and Life Member of the Indian Society for Remote Sensing.
Recognised by JNTUH and Osmania University as a Ph.D. guide, he has successfully guided 35 UG & PG projects and 3 Ph.D. scholars. With nearly 10 years as Principal, Dr. Rusthum has been associated with BRIL since its inception and has played a pivotal role in elevating the institution's academic standards, research culture, and professional reputation.
